Strong winds and rough seas mean that Hovertravel has suspended its Ryde-Southsea service until further notice, with an update due at 07:45.

Normally, customers would jump onto the next available Fastcat sailing from Ryde Pier Head but a technical issue has forced the cancellation of a number of Wightlink sailings this morning.

The cross-Solent operator says that 06:15 and 07:15 sailings from Portsmouth Harbour has been cancelled as well as the 06:45 and 07:45 sailings from Ryde.

Tickets will be accepted on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry service.

UPDATE @ 07:24 – Wightlink’s FastCat will be back in service starting with the 08:15 from Portsmouth Harbour.
